“Modernizing with renewables and nuclear to reduce dependence on fossil fuels” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated during a press briefing on the impact of the situation in the Middle East on the European Union.

The European Commission President stated that the objective is clear: it is necessary to increase local, accessible, and reliable energy production. She explained that renewable energy is numerous and that nuclear is also essential because it guarantees independence, predictability, and energy security. Finally, she concluded that the only lasting way out of dependence on fossil fuels is modernization.
