Who WE are

EU VIDEO NEWS is an independent editorial video newsroom to report on current affairs in the European Union through audiovisual content. EU VIDEO NEWS  produces interviews and video analyses on EU policies and day-to-day EU politics. Our mission is to provide clear, transparent, and verifiable information, fostering public debate based on factual data and reliable sources. EU VIDEO NEWS aims to bring EU news closer to citizens, particularly at the local level.

VIDEOS. Our videos are edited from the official feeds provided by the EU institutions or filmed by our journalists using our own cameras in Brussels and Strasbourg.  The EU VIDEO NEWS website serves as the media hub for our independent news service, which aims to distribute our videos across various channels that link back to the EU VIDEO NEWS website, where everything is published in English to reach the widest possible European audience. Some of our videos are edited and shared via EU VIDEO NEWS’ social media channels to provide timely and independent information to as wide an audience as possible, with a particular focus on younger people.

A PAN-EUROPEAN VIDEO NEWS AGENCYEU VIDEO NEWS aims to provide as many local and regional media outlets as possible with videos from the heart of Europe, acting as a real European video press agency and bridging the information gap between Brussels and the national capitals, cities, and small communities. Therefore, our videos are multilingual, yet many interviews are filmed in Italian – although subtitled in English – as Italy is the pilot country for the release of videos covering European affairs with a strong local and regional focus. Indeed, our videos are available to a large network of small local and regional Italian media outlets that can draw on EU VIDEO NEWS videos – provided they cite the source. EU VIDEO NEWS aims to expand this network into other European countries, becoming a pan-European video news agency. A second minor pilot project is currently underway in France. Our aim is to extend this model of free and independent journalism from Brussels to the local level in other EU countries.

I GIVE YOU EUROPE. In addition to our multilingual content, EU VIDEO NEWS features a weekly video column by Alessio Pisano, a journalist with over 15 years’ experience in European politics, in which he explains and analyses the main current affairs stories from Brussels. The column is in Italian but can be viewed with English subtitles.

MULTILINGUALISM. Interviews are conducted in Italian, English, and French, but the project aims to expand them to other European languages with contributions from contributors of other nationalities.
