“Gaza’s initial recovery cannot wait for every single political issue to be resolved,” said European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica as she announced the launch of the “Team Gaza” initiative in Brussels at the conclusion of the second ministerial meeting of the Palestine Donors Group (PDG), which she co-chaired with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa. The international platform, which brings together the EU and global partners such as the World Bank, the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom, has secured a preliminary emergency aid package totaling nearly 900 million euros (1 billion dollars). The allocation includes 257 million euros proposed by the European Commission and the EIB for immediate interventions in the water supply network and waste management.
