“Martina’s candidacy for the Italian post is a strong one, but the priority is to present a united front in the EU”. This was stated by the Italian Minister for Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, during a press briefing on the sidelines of the Agrifish Council in Brussels, regarding the candidacy of the Italian Maurizio Martina, currently Deputy Director-General of the FAO, to lead the Organisation. Maurizio Martina has held this position since January 2021, and he was previously the Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies in Italy from 2014 to 2018
