“At last, a more streamlined, faster and stricter European return order” stated Alessandro Ciriani, MEP for The European Conservatives and Reformists Group, at a press briefing at the European Parliament in Brussels following the European Parliament’s approval of the start of negotiations with the Council of the EU to establish a new legal framework for the return of third-country nationals residing illegally in the Union. This was voted on 26 March with 389 votes in favour, 206 against and 32 abstentions.
