“If we don’t want the decline of the European enterprise, we need to rethink everything.” This was stated by Carlo Ciccioli, MEP of the European Conservatives and Reformists group, on the sidelines of the event “Powering Europe’s rail future: From supply risks to strategic autonomy – securing materials and technologies behind rail innovation” at the European Parliament in Brussels. He stated that Europe possesses the necessary resources in terms of technological research and creativity, along with a solid cultural foundation and experience developed over time. He further underlined that there is an opportunity to relaunch efforts in a decisive manner, while acknowledging that high-speed rail remains a key challenge. He also noted his agreement with the views expressed by Letta and Draghi, emphasizing that unless Europe accelerates its pace, it risks being overtaken by other continents demonstrating greater determination and ambition.
