“We respect the activists’ humanitarian commitment but advise against this type of delivery,” Commission spokeswoman Eva Hrncirova said of the Flotilla that set sail from Italy for Gaza on April 26. The spokeswoman said the European Union is in contact with Israeli authorities to monitor the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and said it respects the ongoing humanitarian action, which is part of democratic freedom, but advises against such actions for the safety of the activists themselves.
