“Extending the purpose of the CBAM is crucial today”, Forza Italia MEP Massimiliano Salini said during a meeting of the Industry Committee at the European Parliament in Brussels. The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a European Union regulation introduced on 1° October 2023. This mechanism sets a price on carbon emissions incorporated into goods imported from non-EU countries, initially focusing on high-impact sectors such as cement, iron, steel, aluminum, fertilizers, hydrogen, and electricity.
